Sport Field Play Ground

Improperly developed soils and compacted turfs in highly used areas in sports fields create problems. Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) materials can be incorporated into the soils to improve agronomic conditions with added air/pore space at the root zone and less compaction.

Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) has the ability to facilitate drainage while providing beneficial moisture to plant roots.

Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) is increasingly the preferred aggregate for sports field drainage contractors across the world. Due to its superb water-draining properties, and because it is much lighter than alternatives such as gravel, sand, or other aggregates, is far easier to transport and handle.

To sum it up, Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) is a natural product containing no harmful substances. It is inert with a neutral pH value, resistant to frost and chemicals, will not break down in the water, is non-biodegradable, non-combustible and has excellent sound and thermal insulation properties.

Filling Technique using ECA®

Top Layer


Middle Layer

60 %  of total volume, Mix with equal portion of  Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) (2-8 mm or 2-8 mm crushed ECA®) + Normal Soil + Manure. This will be the Root Zone layer.

Bottom Layer

20 % of total volume, Fill up with Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) with size of 8-15 mm to act as a drainage layer.
