Please explain the application of eca or expanded clay aggregate in noise barriers

Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA ®) is a highly effective material for use in aggregate concrete when manufacturing noise barriers of any kind. From highway and road noise barriers to noise barriers in industrial plants, railways and in other such applications, ECA ® provides extremely high levels of noise resistance at a low cost.

This is due to the unique, porous nature of ECA ®. Each piece has thousands of natural pores, which absorb sound waves and turn them into heat, rather than reflecting them back into the surrounding environment. ECA ® concrete can block and absorb 27-54% of soundwaves, depending on how it’s manufactured, compared to less than 20% for non-aggregate concrete barriers.
