  • 100 – 500 mm compacted depth of foundation
  • 40 - 80 mm of EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA®) that supports capillary action
  • 30 - 40 mm compacted depth of crushed EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA®)
  • 3 – 5 mm of fine crushed EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA), which serves as a cushion effect. It reduces the level of injury when kids fall on this kind of a surface.


Application of Expanded Clay Aggregate (ECA®) in a Football or a Golf Turf Grass

  • EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA®)  laid on the sub-grade
  • 5 – 9 mm of EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA®), which serves as a permeable backfill
  • 40 mm of EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATE (ECA®)  with a binder (resin) to separate top soil from foundation layer
  • 80 – 120 mm of top soil (root-zone)
  • 6 – 10 mm of turf


Drainage below playing fields

The use of ECA® is for the drainage systems below playing fields prevents flooding and allows the field to be used in adverse weather conditions. Expanded Clay Aggregate also prevents the ground from settling.
